Every month we take on a different cause in order to make our community and world a better place.
January: Food Pantry
You are invited to bring non-perishable food items to help stock the food pantry. Especially helpful are:
spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, canned fruit, canned vegetables, canned meat, and oatmeal.
February
1. Imagine No Malaria
Our church has the opportunity to help eliminate malaria in Sierra Leone and save thousands of lives. We will seek donations to the Imagine No Malaria fundraising campaign throughout the month of February.

2. Home Repair
Join a team from our church as we work on the home of a lower income area resident during Spring Break week.
March: Coat Drive
Donate new or gently used coats this month and be the answer to someone's prayer.

April: April Showers
In April our congregation will “shower” the Comfort House (a hospice House) with needed supplies such as:
bleach, laundry soap, white vinegar and Fabuloso cleaner.

May: Bring-a-Bear
Bring a new teddy bear to church on any Sunday in May. The bears will be loved by us until they are sent to children who have had a traumatic experience. The bears will be distributed by the Edinburg Fire Department and the Estrella House.
June: Bring-a-Book
In addition to illness, children who are hospitalized at must contend with long days with little to lift their spirits. You
can help make their hospital stay at bit easier by providing entertaining books. This month donate a new or gently used
book for this purpose.

July: Cup o' Tea
Church members will be asked to take a goodie basket filled with tea and baked items to our shut-ins and then enjoy a visit with them.
August
1. Undie Sunday
New packages of underwear will be collected on Sunday, August 5th. They will be given to children in need.
2. Sock-it-to-Me Sunday
Bring a package of new socks to church on Sunday, August 12th . The socks will be given to children in need.
3. Blessing of the Backpacks
School children will be invited to bring their school backpacks to church on Sunday, August 19th. The backpacks and students will be blessed in anticipation of the new school year. You may donate a new backpack for a needy student.
4. Blue Jean Sunday
Wear a pair of blue jeans to church on August 26th and bring a pair of new blue jeans or a new school uniform pants for a school age child. Uniform pants should be navy blue or khaki. All sizes are accepted. These gifts will be distributed through the Rainbow Room.
September: In His Steps
We will have the opportunity to give a donation to support the "In His Steps" shoe bank campaign. This program provides school shoes for impoverished children in our area.
October
1. Pumpkin Patch
Sign up to help our youth stock and sell items at this year's Pumpkin Patch. Proceeds from the Patch are used to fund mission work by the youth group.
2. Kid's Night in the Patch
Sign up to help during Kid's Night in the Patch. This free outdoor event includes games, rides and more. It is designed to bless the children in our neighborhood.
November: Campus Ministry
Provide meals for college students who attend programs at the UTPA Wesley Center. The Wesley Center is a student ministry operated by area United Methodist Churches.
December
1. Adopt-a-Family
Our church will "adopt" three needy families and provide them with gifts and food and other items they need to celebrate a warm and wonderful Christmas.
2. Live Nativity
Don't miss the opportunity to be a part of this special program that is our church's gift to our community. Singers, actors, kitchen crew, construction, set up/break down teams are needed.
3. Christmas Eve Offering
As is our custom, our church family will donate its entire Christmas Eve offering to save lives. This is our way of remembering that Christmas is Jesus' birthday and we are to give a gift pleasing to him.
